Last-ditch stain removal: NYC

My beloved Zegna sport coat is in utmost peril! Okay, so it's Zegna "High Performance" and it was a thrift store score, but it's still the best thing I've got, and now it stands with mere CENTIMETERS between life and death.

In specific, it picked up a spot of grease from an ill-advised late-night gyro, right on the lapel. I started with a spray of Shout and a good rinse, and it just turned the spot into a smudge. Then I took it to my dry cleaner, and they just turned the smudge into a faded smudge. Still visible in the right light, which makes the coat pretty much useless for projecting the debonair man-about-town image I try so hard to project (because I'm a try-hard, you see).

My dry cleaner said they could try using "stronger chemicals," but it could leave a light spot on the fabric. I'd said I'd mull it over. Does anyone have a recommendation for a specialist cleaner of last resort? Or should I just hand it back over to my well-intentioned but unexceptional Chinese laundry and tell them to go for broke?

PS: I also have a Faconnable shirt in dire straits: I spilled OJ on it, forgot about it, the juice dried invisible since the shirt is a vibrant pink puppytooth anyway, and then I IRONED IT. Bright orange-brown stain, probably permanent: check.

If you can get your hands on a product called Lestoil, I've found it will get anything out of anything.

I can't say enough for Meurice when it comes to garments in peril. The problem is, you start to rely on them. My wife and I were at a party a few weeks ago when she leaned against a table. Uh oh. Turns out someone must have spilled something, because she got a dark line of oil all across the front.

Oh, and the dress was 100% silk.

I had it in my office for a week or two, finally took it over to Meurice. Dress looks brand new. Yes, it cost nearly $70, but the alternative was throwing the dress away.
