Laptop/College Bag?

So basically I'm looking for a laptop bag. I'm going to be using it in college but besides my laptop, I'll probably just have a folder and a few pieces of paper in my bag.

My preferred price for the bag is around $100 but I'll be willing to go near $200 if something really razzle dazzles me.

Currently, I'm looking at: http://www.jcrew.com/mens_feature/alwayslist/agreatbag/PRDOVR~58394/58394.jsp

I might however, end up getting this: http://www.jcrew.com/mens_category/accessories/bags/PRDOVR~52430/52430.jsp since you don't really need laptop bags to hold laptops

Any suggestions? And is the first link I posted suitable?

It just so happens that I've been looking for a new laptop bag. I like the J.Crew bag, so I went ahead and ordered one. Too bad they say it won't ship until Apr 24.

J. Crews are knockoffs of Filsons. Not much more a way better quality. Filson 256/257 are what you are looking for

I didn't know that they were knockoffs but I do now.

However, I don't feel that it's justifiable for me to spend double the price for it. As long as the bag functions properly (hard to fail at that), quality isn't much of a concern. I'll probably use it for 2-3 years before switching to another. Even if my bag breaks, I can buy another one and it'll still be cheaper than the Filson.

I guess you learn the most by making mistakes first hand...

Apart from Filson, I'd also take a look at TimBuk2 and Briggs & Riley.

But if you bought one Filson you wouldn't have the issue of your bag breaking ever
