for me it is too wide and i'm not really liking the striped tie and patterned suit.

This does not look contemporary: buttoning point is too low, lapels are somewhat large (but not too large or ridiculously large).

It's okay if you like wide lapels. It's not if you don't.

It certainly is a less ordinary look; lapel is not too wide necessarily.

Agreed, but wide lapels like this never really go out of fashion - particularly with a raised lapel notch. The pattern on that jacket also helps it.

The button point really kills it.
During the low button point Dark Ages, I had my MTM
jackets done with a high button point ( for the time) to
avoid this problem. Unfortunately, my prudence was
sabotaged by my expanded waistline.

No, not too wide. But the bowing of the lapel and maybe the notch angles makes it look slightly dated.
