Hi all,

I recently picked up this Harris Tweed but I am concerned the lapel notches are a bit too low. Any thoughts?

Many thanks.

Any opinions gents? I have an opportunity to return this jacket but I must do so today. I'd really appreciate your opinions.

How tall are you? The notch is low, but not unwearable, certainly not current however.

adjust the notch, it is quite low and make it wider.

Just wear it as is. Looks OK to me, nice looking jacket. But then I'm not a notch geek.

Thanks!

I'm 5' 9''.
Hmm ok. Just note it will do nothing for visual height. I'd keep it, but then again I have not intrest in looking taller (6'7") so I'm likely biased.

As am I. When hanging on a hanger like your picture, the notches on mine are exactly the width of the notch opening down from the shoulder. Yours appears to be perhaps half again lower. I'm okay with mine but I'd be happier if they were a bit higher.

We need to see it being worn to judge properly; a lower notch often looks worse on the hanger than it does when it is actually worn.
adjust the notch, it is quite low and make it wider.
Neither moving a notch higher nor widening a lapel are possible.

Edit: I see no point in discusssin the notch raising here and full agree that for almost all purposes it shouldn't be tried.

I still disagree with the possibility of raising the notch, however the amount of work need and the knock on changes make it almost useless in practice.

yes the size of the notch can be made larger. but the notch cant be raised. it will always be in the same low position.
what may happen is that the larger notch will call attention to itself, and its low position.
if this bothers you now then you will always bother you.
you may as well send it back.

Thanks for all the opinions.

Here are the pictures of me actually wearing the jacket that were requested earlier.
