I'm heading off for some exploring in Laos and Cambodia as part of my honeymoon next year.

Things like Angkor Wat are a given, but I'd love to know if you've been and any stories or experiences you had and any great places you found, whether it be for food and drink, shopping and markets, historic sites etc..

Luang Prabang is worth the schlep. Plain of Jars less so. Vientiane has a wonderful small-town aire about it in the evening, and some nice places to eat. Phnom Penh is a bigger town.

My favorite thing to do in this part of the world is to watch people. Find a good corner and some shade and a drink and watch it go by.

Also, river travel in this region, when possible, is far smoother than air, rail, or road.
