    Hello Ricardo,

Today i was buying a trouser enjoying summersale promotion and realise that i would get it only in september.
Vittorio told me it has to do with workers holliday.
Of course i understand and respect it.
Well, the only think to do it's being patient and wait a little more.
Also i thing spring/summer wear will be out of equation in this case.

    cheers.

    Hi Antonio,

I'm afraid there's little we can do. Even our suppliers have their hands tied, as they need to give to their employee vacation in August. This has to do with agreements with the Italian Unions that date back the 70's, and still affect most manufacturers.
This is the main reason we offer discounts in July and August, as our customer will have to wait 3 weeks more to receive their orders.

We would probably be able to partially solve this for our shirts, but not for suits and pants...

    Ciao
    Riccardo

I lived in Milan for a while in the 70's and couldn't believe how deserted the city was in August. August 15 you could take a nap in the middle of a busy street and no traffic would bother you.

I got the shipping notification today for my Solaro Suit! I'm very excited to get it. I got the replacement fabric after the Drago one fell through. I was wondering if I would get it before the shutdown next month!

I got my Solaro suit today, it's really awesome! The fabric is fantastic and has such an interesting character to it. I'm taking it to the tailor's tomorrow to get some adjustments done. Mostly inseam, and sleeve length/width. I'll post pictures once I get it back. I opted for the replacement fabric (the mill name escapes me) so mine is a touch more green than the Drago fabric, really cool stuff!

Most of you probably saw @dynemacron review of a MTM Solaro suit he wrote for the SF Journal (http://journal.styleforum.net/review-of-lanieri-su-misura-suiting/). Like him, I was asked by Fok (@LA Guy) if I would be interested in trying our Lanieri’s MTM service in return for a review (the suit was free of charge and the review is honest feedback of the service and product).

From the get go, I knew I wanted a navy suit and when I first browsed the site, I saw fabrics from some of the usual well known mills. The selection was somewhat limited but I was trying to find something not too expensive, although we weren’t given any limitation. I eventually settled on a navy houndstooth from Drago that looked like it would make for a nice casual suit. Once I nailed that down, I was taken through the customization process where I was able to chose from all of the usual customizable options with MTM suiting…buttons (no 3r2 option), lapel style (notch/peak), sleeve buttons, vents, buttons, etc. I decided on: two button w/ wide lapels (4”), two vents, three sleeve buttons, and flat front trousers.

Providing the measurements was up next and the instructional videos they provide are very helpful. Like dynemacron, I messed up a couple measurements but their specialists quickly emailed me to confirm, which allowed me to double check and give them the right data. It seems they also have some sort of formula/algorithm that gives them an acceptable range for one measurement based on others (including height and weight) provided. I have a larger than normal drop so they asked me more than once to confirm if what I inputted was correct and even gave me a measurement of what it was expected to be. I was pretty impressed at that point with the amount of time they spent on ensuring the had accurate data before the garment went into production. I know of plenty online MTM operations that just roll with whatever the customer inputs and if it’s off, that’s on them (customer).

A little over a month later, I received a shipping notification that the suit was on the way via FedEx. It arrived in California only a couple days later, neatly packed in a garment bag and on a nice wooden hanger. The first thing I looked over was the construction and I couldn’t find any faults there, it was clearly well made. The fabric was pretty much what I expected for the price, nothing spectacular but nothing wrong with it either. Again, I went out of my way to not chose an expensive cloth, but I definitely wouldn’t call this Drago cloth cheap. It a nice cloth that makes for a great travel and/or casual suit.

When I finally tried the thing on, I knew as soon as I put my foot through the pant leg that they were tight. I’m sure there are guys that wear their pants that tight, but they were unwearbly tight to me. I could get them on and button them up (waist was fine), but the cloth was snug from the hips down to the calves. The jacket, on the other hand, wasn’t all that bad. The chest felt good and they did a pretty good job with the waist suppression. The length was right where I liked it and the sleeve length was good, but the shoulders had some issues. That said, I feel it’s important to say that I’ve never really had a successful experience with online MTM jacketing or shirts. I’ve had a few that fit alright, but my upper body just has issues (scoliosis, oversized right scapula, bad drop shoulder, and 10” drop) that most MTM can’t address. I’ve only had a good outcome when I’ve been measured/assessed in person and with jackets, unpadded shoulders are pretty much the only way I can go unless it’s bespoke. So while most on here will see the jacket has issues, you have to take into account what they are working with.

With the suit being pretty much unwearable due to the trousers, Riccardo decided it was best for me to send it back for alterations. Normally they would have you tailor it locally and reimburse you, but I don’t have a tailor worth a damn in my area and with the shoulders needing adjustment, it needed to go to someone competent. Riccardo felt they had enough seam allowance to alter the trousers and they could get the jacket right, so back it went. I received the altered suit a few weeks later and although they put a considerable amount of work into it, the fit still isn’t ideal. The jacket still has some issues in the shoulders and upper back, but the bigger problem is still the trousers. They’re not as tight as they were, but they are still much, much snugger than I would ever want to wear.

Overall, the customer service was great but the end product didn’t really work out well for me. It’s doubtful that I will order again because I’m afraid I’m just outside of what their system can work with. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t recommend to anyone because all you have to do is look at @dynemacron suits (especially the second) and you’ll see that they can definitely make a quality garment that fits well. A big thank you to Riccardo and his team, who were great to work with.

Thank you Cody for the detailed and honest review.

As we discussed, your case was not easy to deal with, especially since you didn't have a decent tailor around you that could have addressed the problems and guide the both of us in either remake the garments or proceed with the alterations. On the other hand, we tried not to enlarge it too much and return a shabby suit either, still unwearable.
I'm honestly curious to hear what other people here think about the final fit, but from the picture I'm quite happy with the results achieved, although still too tight for you. This domain is highly subjective obviously, and at the end of the day the wearer is making the calls, but receiving more feedback can help us improve our algorithms in regards to the US market, where we would like to launch one of our ateliers next year.

Rest assure that if you ever decide to order again, we will adjust the fit, giving you more room in the legs and around your torso, even taking care of your different shaped shoulders...

    Grazie!
    Riccardo
