I have a few-years-old grass green Lacoste polo shirt (size 7) in my closet I've been meaning to sell. I pulled it out today, and now I want one that fits. There is some confusion on Ebay about the sizing scheme, specifically whether a 4 or a 5 is a medium size. I wear a 40 chest or usually a medium shirt size. I want it slim but not tight. What size do I need?

I agree - their sizing is on the large size. I normally wear a 40 suit, 15.5 dress shirt and M tshirts/polos. However, I wear a 4 Lacoste (which i believe they consider to be Small)

J, get a size down with Lacoste for a slim (better) fit. I believe the measurements for a small is 21.5", which is typically a Medium. XS is usually perfect for me, but even an XS in Lacoste isn't as fitted as I would like.

Go to www.bensilver.com click on shopping then on the left side click on Lacoste then click on 'short sleeve' there will be a picture of a shirt and a link to 'more info'. click on 'more info' and it talks about sizing. Ben Silver had something in a recent catalog that stated that the sizing on Lacoste shirts had changed.

Has anyone tried what appear to be Lacoste knock-offs from Ebay? There is a guy from Thailand who is selling them for $15. Funny thing is they even come with the "Made in France/Chemise Lacoste" label (without the size or Â

) on them despite him admitting they're made in Thailand. Putting aside the ethical issues of buying fake merchandise for a moment, I was thinking that even if they are low quality, the shirt probably only has to last a for a summer or two until the preppy look is out of fashion again for another 15 years. BTW, what do the current authentic labels look like?

May I also ask two question about polo shirts: What causes the collar to get out of shape? Are Lacoste polos noticably better than those from Lands' End and LL Bean (particularly collar-wise)? Thanks.

I've actually seen Lacoste shirts from Thailand about 6 months ago and they do not look like the one with whe words "Chemise Lacoste". In fact, the labels of the Lacoste shirts I saw from the Thai lacoste store looked rather similar to the ones in the US. The font is wrong in the second picture. Regarding the first picture, the size number is centered. I think Lacoste usually aligns the size number to the left or right, and it usually appears in red as well. Here is a photo from Saksfifthavenue.com. The collars look terrific, don't they?

Perhaps someone more qualified can offer his opinion. May I also ask two question about polo shirts: What causes the collar to get out of shape? Are Lacoste polos noticably better than those from Lands' End and LL Bean (particularly collar-wise)? Thanks.
