I have a pair of tan buck wingtips. Original laces are gone.
I tossed some brown laces temporarily and though they do match the sole edge for color,
was wondering if this is acceptable or not?

I'm really not sure. To me they pass. But since I am the one wearing them, it's only others who may suffer. Here's a photo. I really can't decide. (Sorry about the hideous socks.)

I think a lighter color would look better. Maybe white or cream?

I don't think it's terrible, but then again I would likely wear some purple, light blue or something laces with those depending on what the rest of the ensemble was to be. I would be afraid of white lace, tho.

On second look, yeah, the white might look electric if the suede is tan. (I'm on a Mac, which has a lighter screen -- makes the shoes look almost white. They look cream really.) But that chocolate brown isn't working for me. It's not really similar to the edge color.

I'd try to find a color similar to that of the suede.

Those are kind of hard to source. Where do you get them?

A lighter brown would probably look better.

Thanks everyone. I'll make due with these brown laces for now until I pick up something better.
I like the purple suggestion too.

I read this as "Does it work with your eyes?"
    I chuckled, then became disappointed.
