Has anyone eaten here in NYC? I am going up there this weekend, and was thinking about taking my lady friend there. I was thinkin about doing the tasting menu for both of us with wine, or is the single order section better?

Yes, I have been there. I am sure you will have people arguing on both sides. But it is one of the finest dining establishments I have ever been to.

Enjoy, you are in for a treat.

I did the chef's tasting menu over the Bernardin tasting menu, and it was wonderful. I was there in late spring, so lots of the vegetables used were fantastic. It easily moved to my 3rd favorite place in NYC.

I think there is one of our fellow members here who hasn't had good experiences, but it's one of the very very few high end NY restaurants that are consistently well spoken of. If my wife had a more varied palate I would have absolutely included Le Bernardin and Per Se in my itinerary.

Food is fantastic. Ambiance and decor are not.

I know vox maitains that LB is over-rated. I disagree completely. Don't go if you don't like seafood though

Is the dress business casual?

Also, I was thinking both of us get the tasting with the wine.

Just trying to justify the 500 bucks. I heard it was probably in the top 7 fine dining in NYC. i havent really experienced super fine dining in NYC, just around DC and I am pretty sure this stuff will blow DC away.

Try Gotham as a good starter restaurant in NY.

I've been, and I loved it. I enjoy seafood so their offerings were great for me. I didn't like the ambience, but the food was terrific.

I'm not a fan of Gotham. I've been three times and it just doesn't do it for me. I do, however, agree that it's a good starter restaurant.

Speaking of seafood a few weeks ago I went to Milos and greatly enjoyed it.
