Kneeling down while wearing a long coat

Greetings.

Can you please take the time to look at this YouTube video? Please wait for it to load.

Then fast forward to the scene starting at 7:42. You notice that Nicolas Cage kneels down while wearing his long coat.

My question is: Why on earth would he allow his fine coat to touch the dirty ground like that? Why didn't Cage even check for dirt on the ground before just kneeling down without thinking? Do people usually just do that? It seems very strange to me and bothers me.

How would you avoid your long coat touching the ground?

Finally: Please correct me if "kneel down" are not the right words describing the position being considered.

Regards,
Interface.

I think it looks rather cool when a long overcoat brushes the ground or fabric pools around you when kneeling. Just don't do it in the middle of a muddy field!

Ah, of course. Had forgotten about that word. Thank you. But why would I not care? I don't see anything wrong in noticing this.

It is like your asking the best way to keep your clothes as good as new.

And the answer is to not wear them.

Because it's a MOVIE. Would you honestly expect his character to take the time for something like that totally irrelevant to the plot?

I take the 2 sides with my hand and put them on my tights.

I do the same when I sit down on a chair.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
