A dumb rumor. Seriously, no enterprising Pole would allow this arbitrage opportunity to exist for even a week.

Just to get a sense as far as high-end shoe pricing is concerned.
Lobbs are sold via company boutique and RTW models can cost up to $1900.

Kiton @ $1200

Fratelli Rossetti under $230

Santoni over $920

Barrett over $915

Branchini over $1285

K I'm sure most of you guys have profound knowledge of Russian economy but there are quiete of few people who make well above the standard middle class wage here in NA, and a lot of them live in Moscow because living there is exactly like buying a 500$ tie. Very expensive clubs, restaurants and everything you want to show off.

Kiton @ $1200

Kiton shoes for $1200? Wouldn't that be considered a pretty good deal?

Hell, yes! They are 1500 Euro over here - if you find them cheap.

100% BULLSHIT. Middle class people in Moscow earn ~1000$ a month (this is my assesment, not official statistics). Most people earn much less than that. To answer original question: this shop in St Petersburg sells Kiton ties for 8700 roubles (~323$). I doubt price in Moscow is different. Andrey

Kiton ties are 7,500 rubles just round the corner from my apartment. Maybe your informant read the price tag wrong.

Hmnn, makes the A$350 they sell for in Australia a relative bargain! ;-) *eyes rolling*

I just passed on a bunch of Kiton ties on sale for EUR 49.90 at a shop in Munich. They were very supple ties but the designs didn't appeal to me enough to spend that much. I guess I would have bought them all if I had plans to travel to Moscow...
