Hey guys, I'm auctioning off a yellow/cream Kiton seven fold tie, a white linen Luciano Barbera pocket square, and a blue w/ red and green pattern Charvet pocket square. All are NWT and have never been used. I know a lot of you guys are always on the look out for nice pocket squares and these are some really high quality ones here. yellow/cream Kiton tie white linen Luciano Barbera pocket square blue, red, and green Charvet pocket square I also may be auctioning off some more Kiton ties and another pocket square or two (Hermes and Brioni), depending on which I decide to keep for myself, so stay tuned, as I may post updates.

In all honesty, I just based the shipping prices on what I've paid in past auctions for similar products and on the higher end of what sellers are generally charging (I've had one auction where higher-than-predicted shipping wiped out any profit and a few others that cost more than anticipated). For pocket squares, I just found out today that first class shipping was a viable option, so my shipping on those (and the Charvet if any of you win it and want to talk to me about shipping) will be noticeably reduced. I don't think $7 is that high for ties since $5-10/shipping charges are pretty common, the minimum fee for priority mail is $4.30 (with tracking included), and the rest can cover packing supplies, trips to the post office etc, though I'll consider lowering it.

Anyway, if any of members here win an auction, tell me and I'll give some sort of discount on shipping. I probably won't offer free shipping unless I turn a profit, but I could drop it down to something like $1-2.

Your offer to reduce shipping, for forum posters is appreciated.  It shows that you find value in our common interest in fine clothing.

Everyone has a different approach to eBay. Sellers on eBay are free to charge whatever they want for shipping.  Buyers decide if they're willing to pay that amount.  IMHO, shipping should be at, or close to cost of actual shipping.  Priority boxes are free from the post office and I buy colored tissue paper for $1 per20 sheets at the dollar store.  When selling clothing, shipping supplies are not a cost factor.  However, when I recently sold a 85 lb. amplifier, I added $14 for the box, which is what I actually paid at the UPS store.  When it comes to shipping, what others charge or what the market will bear, is not where I intend to make a profit.   If I factor in time, including going to the post office, effort and supplies, then I have to buy "smart" and not expect bidders to pay more for shipping than it's really worth. If I don't buy smart enough to make a reasonable profit from an auction, that's my fault.

These are only personal rules I've established for myself and I don't expect anyone else to follow them.  Occassionally I'll pay more for shipping because I really want an item, knowing that actual cost is far less.  That's my choice; I factor shipping into what I'm willing to bid for an item.
