How do you like the fabric and weight? Would you recommend it?
Definitely. It's a beauty w/s/l blend. I'd call it a three season weight (spring-summer-fall). Gladson has two other colour ways of the same fabric, if I remember correctly.

Than you! I see it’s green and a khaki color but is the third color black or navy? Hard to tell

This one is black (or a very dark grey).

They have another one with a medium brown/tan/black. And I think the third version was blue/ tan/black.

Can you give us some substantive thoughts on the jacket? What do you like about it? What do you dislike? How do You feel it compares to your many Spier jackets, etc.

Yes absolutely. Working on a polished summary to be shared soon!
Thanks. I’ve had both and feel that KW offers the superior product, though I prefer S&M’s cut and have had better luck with their base pattern. In general I feel there aren’t enough data points talking about and comparing the SF-approved MTM options.

Have any of y’all tried KW’s 17” W/S squares? If so, do they lean more toward the heft of a Drakes or the airiness of a Christian Kimber?
Fittingly, was wearing the (all silk) phenomenal Earthly Delights square today.

Hello Folks!

Aaron here in New York City, working on updating the fabrics pages.

Even before it goes up, I wanted to share with you the new presentation from Abraham Moon.

Moon, as you know, is the source of most of the tweeds we have made in the last few years, and many of the overcoats.

There are shetlands and merinos, solids and plaids, in a wide range of colorways and traditional English checks and plaids.

Here are digital books of all of their stock supported ranges. Page through and you will find some surprises.

This is one page from the Shetland Jacketing range:

As always, write [email protected] with any questions you may have. If you see something you like, post a picture of it and I can tell you more about it.

Hello again:

The collection I want to highlight today great new online swatch folders of Marling & Evans.

M&E logo.jpeg

Marling & Evans, like Abraham Moon, is a historic English mill, but while Moon focuses on tweeds and other English heritage-related fabrics in a rainbow of colors, M&E focuses on tweeds in solids, checks and plaids in traditional colorways. And the most famous have no added color at all -- the Natural Collection.

This collection is in two parts, the 360g jacketing:

This is a beautiful pheasant-eye or diamond weave tweed that you can see in the S1592 folder here. Another folder of undyed tweed jacketing is S1635. Other undyed wool patterns and shades are in Colne and Diggle and Hillhouse and Moorend

The other side of the Naturals collection is 720g coating. I made a great coat of it:

This and other coatings can be found in the S1592 folder here

Here is an overview of all the collections including those above.

Other groups include:

Dalton, lambswool & shetland blend jacketing in traditional color plaids

Dalton H, shetland solid jacketing in melange (mixed color) shades

Farnley, merino wool jacketing in colorful checks and plaids

Marsh, more merino wool jacketing in colorful checks and plaids

Netherton, still more merino jacketing in colorful plaids and checks

Netherton H, merino solid jacketing in melange (mixed color) shades

Sheepridge, even more merino jacketing in colorful plaids and checks

Prices are reasonable, generally in the C to F range, from the high $600s to the low $800s for a jacket.

You can get a lot of inspiration from their instagram.

Write mtm@kentwang,com with any questions you may have.

Just wanted to share with you a fantastic digital brochure we just got from Zegna.

Zegna is best known today as a clothing brand, but they were a mill first, and the Autumn 20/21 range includes, by my count, six jacketing ranges, one coating range, and five suiting ranges. Check it out!

Always know we can get you any fabric in the world that is sold by the yard or the meter.

Hope the brochure gives you some inspiration for what to make this season.

We remain available for in-person consultation here in New York, and can advise you by email or videochat nationally and worldwide.

Just write [email protected] with any comments or questions.
