Kenneth Cole New York: Quality?

A follow-up: I had just purchased my first pair of Kenneth Cole N.Y. shoes, and I found some on this forum had been making fund of the brand. At that time I was enthusiastic about my new shoes and defended the company. They are fairly popular, after all.
Unfortunately, the shoes have not worn too well. Though expensive originally (I paid a discounted price), these shoes wrinkled in an annoying way within a fairly short time, the heels certainly didn't last better than average, and now a hole formed in one of the soles with the other sole starting to wear in the same place. Also an annoying scratch has appeared in one - a type perhaps associated most with the hard type of leather these KC's sport. They are comfortable, and that surely counts for something and I'm not so easy to fit, but I deserve better....
I was going to have them re-soled and re-heeled again (already re-heeled a short time ago - not KC's fault the second heels didn't last well either) but now I'm thinking they're not worth the $45 or so. I'll look around.

I've had my share of KC shoes, even those awful Reaction shoes- all garbage, all a waste of my money.

KC is definitely a high school shoe. I remember buying them because they were the "cool" thing to do. I have had my share of KC shoes back in the day as well, I wish I could go back in time and tell my younger self about fashion.

Step One: Admit the mistake.
Step Two: Do not resole. Do not reheel. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.00.
Step Three: Decide budget, add $45.00 to budget for not having shoes resoled.
Step Four: Call Allen Edmonds Wearhouse. Describe shoe you want. See if there is something similar that has been discontinued. If not see if there are seconds in something similar.
Step Five: Enjoy your new shoes.
