Keeping Shoe Boxes Or Not as Roaches Love them

So I have a collection of shoes which I love and like to keep them inside their original shoe boxes which they came in (Don't know if anyone is similar). Since I live in a topical area I found that roaches is everywhere even if it's clean. As such they love to eat the shoe boxes as a food source then lay eggs in between the layers. Has anyone had to deal with this before and what have you guys done to either keep the original boxes from being eaten away?

Don't know if there's any solutions (tape) or just throw the boxes out..

I dont even live in a tropical climates, but throw away all cardboard/shipping boxes etc. I think one is asking for trouble as you never know what the suppliers warehouse looks like. If you want boxes i would buy some that are possible to wash/clean.

Thanks for that suggestion, I was thinking that might be a solution as well with plastic boxes if I can't keep these boxes. It's sad to see my amazing c&j boxes and carmina boxes get thrown since they have such character and add to the authenticity of the shoe which they were made.
