Another sad story... I worked at Grieco Brothers (mfg. of Southwick suits) in the next town over (Lawrence) for a few years and knew the Kaps store in Andover as well as the one at Burlington mall...

Up until 3 years ago I lived in Lawrence since '93. The good ole days of Grieco Bros, Kaps, Polo factory all in Lawrence. Those were great times. <sigh>

There used to be a great tailor that had a MTO storefront for shirts/suits.... corner of Broadway and Essex... I think it was Don Nicolosi...

I'm hoping to get a chance to swing by the Andover store tomorrow. If so, I'll post percentages and noteworthy items.

Last time I was there made-in-the-Philippines German Christ brand shearlings were 40% OFF.
( Can you imagine sitting and sewing shearlings in a shop in a tropical country ? )
Given the amount of junk they normally stock, I'd think better product will probably clear out by the time 50% OFF kicks in.
On a related note, Mr. Sid sent me 3 come-on-down-for-a-sale postcards before Christmas.
We'll see how they manage to navigate thru this shytstorm.

I stopped into the Andover store today. Not really worth the time. They had a couple of racks of shirts (20-30) with a XXL Ike Behar "closing store priced" at $79
rolleyes.gif
3-4 racks of winter jackets .. Cole Haan leather coats at $350+ and some interesting shearling winter coats at 50% off of $2K, so $700-$1100 "closing store priced"
rolleyes.gif
Samuelsohn and HF "discounted" to $699

A few shoes left Allen Edmonds (none of the good styles), Martegani... with only 25% off.

Since I was in the neighborhood I went a few blocks further down and stopped at The Andover Shop. Fantastic quality and selection. Great selection of Alden, beautiful Gloverall duffle coats.. scottish sweaters, etc. Just too damn expensive
