Off topic, but yeah, they’re planning to introduce simplified Chinese into the curriculum here, so Cantonese/traditional Chinese will probably be gone sooner than later.
The new law is basically whatever they deem to be threatening or not endangering the CCP
This makes me sad, my mother's native tongue is Cantonese and once the Communists took over they made Mandarin the national language. My mother immigrated to the US because of them, her grandfather was wealthy and the stories of the torture they did to him ...

Hong Kong is one of the only places that still speaks Cantonese (only 5% of China speaks it now) and if China takes over HK I wouldn't be surprised if the language was completely wiped out. What was the national security law they passed?

Do people have a link or photos to the Free Tibet collection? What do the clothes look like?

The webpage loads one photo at a time, so just be patient and let everything load before you go through it all. It's about 70 pics or so.

It's not really a Free Tibet collection. Its more the already released remake stuff with some free Tibet stuff mixed in. I was more intrigued by the thongs tbh.

Thanks. It looks better than what I expected from that one photo of long socks, which kind of put me off.

Many of these designs feel streetwear-ish. Kapital in general feels increasingly streetwear-ish in the last few years. Not a criticism. I recently bought one of the trucker hats and like it. It's just an observation.

I don't know. I have mixed feelings about them using this as an aesthetic. If people want to buy things that say Free Tibet, I think they should buy from an organization that's actually working on the cause (not of actually Freeing Tibet, as that's kind of a lost cause, but to help monks in Nepal or something). That said, I've bought political merch for aesthetics and understand this is maybe tangential.

Totally agree on the more streetwearish vibe. I miss the more americana-western-Japanese-Asian-cowboy mix and vibe, which is what attracts me the most with the brand.

Looking at just the first part of the comments it seems as though they are mostly made up by angry Chinese people. Does this mean that I will be able to pick up second hand Kapital pieces at great prices soon enough? ???

If they actually follow through with all their boycotts they would be wearing nothing but LiNing lol

Browsing through this whole campaign, it seems so weird because, as others have said, it doesn't even seem sincere. Some of the images seem kind of disrespectful of the cause -- the woman bending over and the white guy wearing a monk's robe while skating. It feels very "just for aesthetics."

I suppose the ultimate "punk" move is to just do something like this and not care. Maybe it's even a plus if it's offensive to some people -- you piss of some Chinese people and you piss off people who actually care about Tibet.

In the 90s, the Tibetan Freedom Concert brought a lot of attention to this issue to people who were just trying to hear cool music. And I realize fashion, aesthetics, and politics are often very closely intertwined. But it's weird to see a very sensitive and serious issue get wrapped up and presented like this. It would be like if you saw a company release edgy "Black Lives Matter" merch, but did it in a way where it was clearly about the aesthetic and not the message. It just feels weird.

In this day and age would you even consider rocking those free Tibet socks? Regardless of my stance on the issue I'm too ***** to risk getting ass whooped by some psycho dude

Pretty sure wearing "Free Tibet" in the United States is equivalent to wearing "Live Laugh Love" at this point. The message is pretty mainstream.

Anywhere outside of china, wearing a free Tibet hat would so nothing for the most part. In Japan, same as Chicago most are from Cantonese speaking areas and left for the very real fear of subjugation. Frankly, although this whole collection seams insincere, they are playing with something very real.

I wonder what percentage of their sales are Chinese. I wonder if they will lose money from this. I wish they would actually take a real stance on this
