Yeah The only thing that is nice is that it’s wide enough for me to layer heavy and mine has a giant attached scarf. It gets pretty tiring to carry after a while and can be a pain to put on though. All for the fashion.

it’s made for weather in the mainland of Japan which Rarely drops below -5 unless you are in a mountain or up north. Hell in Hiroshima where I was at, it rarely dipped below 10. It was plenty warm with a flannel.

In Chicago I have to wear so many layer to make work so opt for my vintage militaría or some other coat

My black wool ring coat is pretty warm I'd say. I wore it just fine out in North Dakota winters over sweaters (temps down to -20C). Not windproof though so that was the biggest problem. But I'm kind of a polar bear tho and I handle the cold well.

Can anyone advise on how the kapital maze & damask fleece jacket fit?

With that said, how do I decide on which pattern to get?

Thx in advance. ?

Don't know about fit or sizing, but I like the damask version better, personally. I think Canoe Club has it this season. You can always email them for sizing advice.

I have the damask fleece (half button up). They're not super over-sized but not tight either. Get your normal size in Kapital or size up one from your US size (e.g. get a size 3 (large) if you're a medium)

The wool melton "core" version? If it's that one, the wind moves through mine pretty easily. I can't even imagine Chicago winter in one. I tend to like weather around 40-60s F but in Paris in February I had to wear a down layer underneath.

I live in Chicago proper and unless you stay at home and Uber everywhere, I can’t believe it. I mean there is enough space to layer to make it warm but the jacket itself is no way that warm. Last winter wasn’t too nasty but when I was commuting, the winds would rip right through the it.

If I was gonna stay in Chicago I’d probably let it go, it’s super cool but not really great for the winter here and maybe a little too bulky for fall. Going back to Kyoto though, it’ll get its use considering it’s not very cold throughout all of winter,

Just received a size 3 from @shopcanoeclub and really like the fit. I’m 5’7 and 150lbs for reference.

has anyone ordered from Independence Chicago lately? I bought the bandana compressed wool scarf from them at the end of August, it never shipped, and I haven't been able to get anyone to respond to emails for the past couple weeks.

Woah that's a long ass time, I'm in Chicago and although I haven't gone to their store since the pandemic, I can't imagine it closed down since they are active on insta and we're promoting a appointment solo shopping experience. Maybe I should check. Not that I could do much for you probably but that's way too long, I'd do a charge back.

They were responsive for a bit, about a month ago, and said they moved out of their B&M location, said they would get to bottom of it for me, then just ghosted. it's a bummer, I have been super understanding, these are not regular times, just would like an answer.
