So I would like a briefcase much like those made by Walden Bags, but the weight puts me off. I hear that kangaroo leather has the best weight-strength ratio. Could someone point me to manufacturers of good quality kangaroo leather briefcases? Failing that, I found a local artesan who is reasonably priced, but I'd need to source the leather myself -- any recommendation for high-quality kangaroo hides? Thanks in advance.

The main issue with kangaroo hides is that most kangaroos are wild - thus most of the skins available tend to be blemished. I believe it's quite rare to find a good sized unblemished specimen, especially for your particular application.

But then, for some, that adds to the charm of the leather.

The briefcase comes with a cute little pouch for your wallet.

There's a seller called santos leather on etsy.com - didn't seem that she'd have kangaroo, but doesn't hurt to ask. She does have lots of lovely suede and lambskin though.

In the land down under, the hopping and boxing anime, featured on our $0.50 coin coat of arms, is considered a pest.

Please take your pick of the below, to be tanned into leather , about to be culled:

  • I reduced my budget for non-essential goods and I'm not spending at the moment.

  • Not much has changed for me and I'm still buying stuff I can't afford.
