So i'm out at my local Marshalls and they have some nicer higher end ties for sale. There was a few Valentino, a couple of Theory, and a few RL Blue Label and a Canali. I bought the Canali and a knit RL Blue Label. Most of the other ties had security sensors directly through the front of the tie. I mean the tag was smack dab in the middle of the tie. A few you could see a noticeable holes form where the tag used to be. These are no ultra high end ties like Hermes or RLPL ties but why would anyone do this to these ties. Great ties damaged by the stupidity of another person. I mean this store usually never gets the good stuff so maybe the people putting them out did not know any better but come on.

    this thread makes me sad.

but based on the employees at my local marshalls this doesnt surprise me one bit

im picturing a 19 year old girl with long fingernails chewing gum and yapping to a fat co-worker accross the isle about her dumb boyfriend, as she destroys these wonderful ties one by one.

There was a nice solid red Valentino that had been marked down to around $20-$25 and would be really nice to own at that price. Problem was you could see the hole where they put the sensor in. Big as could be on the front and not probably not salvageable. Damn shame. At least the Canali and RL knit tie I bought were not hurt. Wonder if I should go and explain how they were ruining the merchandise. 'Give em hell on behalf of Style Forum:laugh:

I hate when the people who work at Marshall's (or TJ Maxx or Ross or HomeGoods) write the fucking price with a fucking BLACK MAGIC MARKER (Sharpie) right on the fucking thing they're trying to sell... I mean, come on... black magic marker? Are you stupid?

I know they do this because of price tag-switchers... but seriously... put down the black markers! There are a lot of things I didn't buy because of this company-sanctioned employee vandalism.

I see this kind of thing all the time. One store I go to STAPLES their price tags through leather belts. 3 or 4 staples at a time. Security tags through leather shoes etc. Its infuriating. Never seen a tag directly through the front of a tie though. Thats rick dickulous.

When you see this syndrome please take a moment and bring it to the managers attention that destroyed items will not sell.
Should they defend the stupidity, simply remind them that once a stores reputation has been comprimised, it is very hard to reclaim it.
At the end of the day it is about the dollars in the till and if the dollars aren't there, they'll have to look at why not and correct the problem or starve.
I would also bring this to the attention of the manufacturers (Canali, etc) because, rest assured, they will kick the retailers butt if their product/sales are comprimised. Take discreet photos wherever possible to provie evidence and things will change for the better.

Seriously. I always read about these amazing finds at Marshals and GoodWill. When I got to these stores or similar, all I find is FUBU jerseys from the 90s.
