Hello,

I'm a new poster, and based on the positive feedback on the website regarding Baronboutique, I gave it a shot.

I sent my order in...similar to Jovan's information, and paid the extra $40 for the handpadded spec, with soft canvassing.

The suit I received was great! They did a great job on getting the measurements right. Narrow lapels, and the fabric was great!

One word of advice, make sure you get a fabric swatch before you order. It makes everything so much easier to choose, once you can actually touch the fabric.

Also the customer service is great! They returned my emails the next day, and were attentive to all my details that I had specified.

I will be using them again for all my suits in the future.

Congrats, I'm glad it turned out well. I bought one shirt from Baron. I probably won't do so again because (despite the associated annoyances) I prefer Jantzen's fabrics and menu of options. But Baron did a solid job on my shirt and is very professional and pleasant to deal with.

Post some pics!

Pictures would be great. Also, if you would be able to compare the construction to a common otr brand, I would be very appreciative. I hope you enjoy the suit!

Congrats on your order coming out the way you wanted it to, d&m. There's a couple things that were off on mine (measurement error on my part) and I need to send it back sometime soon if I'm to take up their offer of correcting them! How is the soft construction? I've gotten into soft tailoring since my order from them, and I'd be willing to give it a shot. Please, post pictures if you can at all. I'd like to see it on you.

Glad to see this thread, Dan. Congrats on the suit, and do post pictures please.

Now, I know some forumers are skeptical of online MTM or bespoke services, particularly for suits, and I'm wary as well, but I'd like to throw my support behind Baron.

I bought a navy three-piece canvassed suit from them earlier this month. For the most part, it turned out great; like Jovan, I got one of the measurements wrong (sleeve length), they used plastic buttons rather than horn (which I requested), and there are a few things I'm going to change for my next order, but nonetheless I've been very pleased. Even with Savile Row bespoke, you're not going to hit a complete home run the first time out.

Like Dan said, their customer service is great. For me, Baron makes sense because off-the-rack suits just don't fit me (right now I'm sort of out of shape, and I'm still about a 38" chest with a 28-29" natural waist, though I can and do wear a 30" in jeans). I'm good at detailing the finer points of my design requirements, so the lack of face-to-face communication isn't fatal. I have yet to find a nicer suit for the same money period, much less a nicer suit that actually fits me -- nay, complements me -- the way the Baron suit does.

Maybe Dan or Jovan can answer this question: does Baron offer their products in a greater variety of colors and patterns than what they show on the web site? In other words, if I have a particular color in mind that doesn't seem to be offered, would they be able to hook me up if I fired off an e-mail? I know Jovan sort of did that with the blue lining he wanted in his suit.

When I buy my next suit from Baron, I'll post pictures. I'm also thinking about a shirt or two. Figured I'd start with a plain or patterned white as a test run. Any advice, gentlemen?

Did you get the canvassing for $40? Horn buttons are included when you do that. Please feel free to share pictures of the one you have now, as I'd like to see how it turned out.

As for the shirt: Let them know if you don't like your collars so stiff or how you want it boned (internal, pockets, unboned) if you don't get a soft collar. Mine came out pretty stiff at first. It's softened up after a few washes, but I pretty much don't even need collar bones for it. Not like I use them at all lately anyways. You may need to add an inch to your sleeve length to accomodate for shrinkage, as my sleeves got a teensy bit short after washing a few times. If you'd rather give them your off the rack sleeve length (e.g. 35" middle of neck to wrist rather than from shoulder like on the measurements form) let them know.

I got the horn buttons as well as the soft canvassing. The canvassing was very comparable to other bespoke that I've received. Very comfortable, no itching at all, as some had said previously. Overall finish is good, similar to my hong kong suits I've made.

After wearing the suit for a few hours, I found that the sleeves are 1/2"-1" too short, and the suit is just a slight too tight, which you will see once I post. I will post pictures once I get the suit pressed.

I'll probably just wear the suit rather than send it back, because of the hassle in sending it back. But I do really recommend that you add a couple of inches of extra room, because they make their suit to the exact body dimensions that you send, rather than adjust the suit to account for undershirts and shirts adding to your body dimensions.

In regards to the color choices, they do have swatches that are not on the website. They however send over a variety of different fabrics... some that I would never choose. But I would never order a suit without the fabric swatch, because it's too difficult to determine the texture.

Some of the fabric choices they sent me were very cheapy, but some where the same as the more expensive wools that I've purchased for my hong kong suits.

How much does this run? I'm really interested - I see a nice synergy with Jantzen and Baron providing my wardrobe for the next couple of years...

What kind of fit did you specify?
I mocked up an order on their website, and I had the option of checking off "snug", "comfortable", "comfortably loose" or "very loose." My natural inclination was to tick off snug, but then I saw this post of yours. SInce they ask for your exact measruements, I fear ticking "snug" would get me a wool scuba-diving suit...

How does the swatch thing work? It looks like from the website that it costs $1.50 per swatch and $25 shipping. Does that mean if you are curious about four different kinds of fabric it will cost you $6 plus $25 shipping? And isn't the shipping a bit steep?

Is that new? I considered having them make a custom tuxedo for me about a year ago, and I'm pretty sure they didn't charge me a penny for the swatches.
