One of my favorite illustrators is Garth Williams, best known for his illustrations for Charlotte's Web and the Little House books.

I love his work, and when I was a kid, one of my favorite books was The Tall Book of Make Believe, which he illustrated.

His estate just auctioned off a bunch of his stuff, and I ended up with few of my favorite pictures from that book.

Lots of nostalgia/sentimental value for me.

I'm going to arrange them into some sort of framed montage.

Here are some of the drawings I ended up with:

If you think that's creepy, there are some pretty creepy ones from the story, "Bad Mousie."

The story is about a girl with a pet mouse, but the mouse is naughty so she and her mom try to kill it. (drowning it, tying it to a fence for owls to eat, etc.) Eventually, the mouse gets the message, and turns over a new leaf and stops making messes. (Probably one of the reasons this book has remained out of print for several decades.)

These pictures are perfect for any kids bedroom and will look nice after stuck on the walls around it so that they can see them and get inspiration. May be they also try to draw watching them and think how perfect they are.

I am going to say that the pic of the old guys seemingly salivating around the pigtailed little girl, with very short dress, to be several magnitudes creepier than "Bad Mousie".

I think I was being polite when I said "a touch creepy."

What is the story behind that drawing?

That's from Garth Williams' unpublished masterpiece, "Katie's Magic Clit".
