I think you did OK. Bit for a little more you could probably get a new pair for not much more from teh AE Shoe Bank. If they're discontinued or if they're second. And a lower pice if both.

Thanks guys. I think the McClain style only came out in the last couple of years or so. As far as Shoe Banks, don't know of any around me here. I just wanted to make sure the price/quality was in the right ballpark for the amount of wear they appear to have from the description.

I think you did pretty good. Nice looking shoe and I love the Chili color. Soles look good. That shoe will look great with jeans too.

The Strand looks nice, I think my second set of brown shoes would be a nice cap toe like that one. I'm looking at black wingtips now. I like the Hinsdale - any thoughts?

"Shoe Banks" are just cutesy names for the Allen-Edmonds outlet stores in Wisconsin. The name arises because the first one was housed in an old bank building. Allen-Edmonds outlet stores are few and far between. Sadly, the only one west of Omaha, the Cabazon, California outlet is closing in a couple of months. If you know your size and have some familiarity with A-E lasts, there is usually little problem with ordering the shoes by phone from one of the A-E outlets.

Seems to be an okay deal. I usually see the McClains for under $50 but they're usually black and not the chilli color.

Quite a good deal for a McClain. Mine is in black.

The Hinsdale is a wingtip blucher, not a balmoral. If you want a black wingtip bal, there is Chester below.

They look very nice - gently worn as if they'd been handed down in the family + a nice colour. Practical with restrained elegance.
