Hi everyone I just picked up a set of banana republic loafers here is a picture of them and the color,

br547908-06p01v01.jpg

My question is what type of socks should i wear with them, Its winter in New York and wearing a low cut sock with these would be pretty foolish, but wearing white socks with them would be no better. I plan on wearing these with jeans, so I'm not sure if a dress sock would be just too dressy for them, I'd most likely be wearing these with straight cut dark selvedge denim jeans can anyone help? thank you in advance

Why would you EVER wear loafers, light brown ones at that, in the winter? With socks?

^^^^first off wearing light brown during winter an issue? Your the first person I've heard that from. Second wearing a loafer during the winter taboo as it is, there is no law against it, i could always buy a boot and wear but cut jeans, but i hate boot cut jeans thats why i went with a loafer

Pale yellow chunky-knit socks for everyday

Bright red/blue stripes for evening/winter party/board meetings.

If you think I'm kidding, well...that's what I wear with mine.

Wear any other sock and we'll tease you mercilessly.

It's funny that some people imply a mocking of the shoe. I believe, Phat Guido who is agruably one of the best dressed on here had several pairs of these last year.

First off.... I dont really believe in matching. I think you can pretty much make any color or pattern work together (there are of course exceptions). Secondly, you dont match your socks to your shoes, if you are going to match them to anything, you match them with the rest of your outfit.

I would say brown socks would work best?

^^^I'm not really looking for a color but more so on the type of sock and material such as cashmere, merino wool, cotton etc.

Loafers are AWESOME. I have at least 6-8 pairs. (Actually just counted - 9, in every color from white(!!!) to black)

I just can't imagine wearing those loafers in the winter, or with socks. Especially since it's a driving moc.
