Just bought a Hartmann brief -- can I use it with black shoes?

Hello all,

I usually use Tumi (nylon, black) to go to work but recently I bought a Hartmann belting leather brief (triple compartment). The color is actually a bit lighter than what I imagined (if nobody told me I would have guessed orange -- but I'm partially color blind).

So will it work if I use the brief with my usual attire? (black shoes/belt, navy/grey suits, white/blue shirts). Or should I use other color for my attire?

Please advise. Thanks.

Yes, of course. I don't try to match my soft briefcase to my shoes. I use a dark brown one daily, regardless of the color shoes I'm wearing.

^ +1. Of things to think and overthink about when matching, I personally don't consider this one of them. Nice briefcase, btw.

I often wondered the same thing, but never worried about making a style faux pas. My messenger bag is a deep chestnut brown, and somedays, all I have on is black and grey.

I don't think it really matters. Unless I was wealthy enough to afford three or four similar bags. Then it would matter

I agree wholeheartedly that you should not think about matching your briefcase to your shoes. If they match, fine; if not, fine.
