This is the deal of the day, normally $1,095.

Available in Dark Charcoal Grey with black stripes.

"Year-round fabric has fluid drape and rich hand, center-vent jacket for classic styling, sleeves constructed for the addition of custom working buttonholes, tailored shoulders and pick-stitched detailing and premier jacquard signature Bemberg lining. Half-canvas chest piece and padded lapels for a crisp, smooth look. Scalloped facing for clean finish. Double reverse-pleated trousers have premium cotton pockets and are half-lined to the knee."

One advantage is that they have my size, 39R. Also, their Signature Gold line is supposedly one of their better ones. It can be returned to the store, so there's no risk.

Please advise.

JAB Sig Gold is half canvassed. While I do not own one from this line I have observed them in person and found them to be a decent suit. That's a respectable price for it.

If you have wanted a charcoal pin stripe suit then it will fill that need, but I would not go out of my way to purchase it.

I would ignore JAB's "regular" prices. Their real retail prices are 50-60% off and I would wait to buy until 70% off.

That said, the signature gold is good quality for a JAB suit. If you need one in the style they're offering and are limited in how much you can spend, then I would purchase at the price you mentioned.

Yeah, JAB suits are obviously not preferred, but $197 for any new suit, especially one that's half-canvassed, is pretty decent. Assuming, of course, that the suit fits you well, and the pattern/color fills a gap in your wardrobe. $197 is too much if it fits poorly, and you won't ever wear it.

This is absolutely true. Any place that can run a promotion where you buy one suit at regular price and get two for free is always running some sort of game with the numbers.

The other thing to watch out is that I believe JAB charges a lot for alterations when you purchase a suit from them. So your $200 suit becomes $250-$280. If you buy at a Nordstrom then they generally do the alterations for free, albeit on a more expensive suit.

I just pulled the trigger. I'll post an update when it arrives.

I'll do the tailoring at local, inexpensive shops. JAB offers a traveler's crease for $8. Seems like a good thing to have. Any opinions?

I got the traveler's crease for free along with some other alterations, seems useful.

The quality on those Sig Gold suits is decent for the price, but for whatever reason the shoulders just don't look right on me. Never could find a size that actually worked, so I gave up.
