So my aunt is buying me some shoes for christmas. Not pricy just something to wear with jeans and slacks when I go out drinking. These are the two we picked out and I just wanted to get some opinions. What do you guys think?

EDIT: I would buy a pair of Allen Edmonds in a heartbeat!! The thing is, they have to come from Macy's. I want black slip-ons I can wear with slacks and a dress shirt or with a pair of jeans and a sport coat.

I have a pair of ecco boots. The leather they use are good quality. Ecco is the only shoe maker who runs their own tannery. Anyway they are not cheap. But they are the most comfy boots I have ever used. They have the TPU sole which is lightweight. And their leather lining with cushion is super comfy. Don't need to break them at all.
Ecco shoes may look ugly but the quality of leather is good plus super comfy. If you have wide feet get the ecco.

You aren't gonna win any sharp dresser awards wearing either. Don't let your aunt buy you shoes, instead graciously accept from her a money equivalent

Who are you and what do you know about shoes? Why do you use "comfy"? Just because they tan leather does not make them a good shoe maker: it is called vertical integration and is a cost saving technique and speaks to their volume not their quality.

Not that I think it's important to own your own tannery to make good shoes (I'd rather a company focus all of their efforts on shoemaking and let somebody else master leather production), but this isn't true. Red Wing Shoes also owns it's own tanning facility.

I did say ecco shoes are rather ugly ! Don't get me wrong here. I own several dress shoes and boots form quality shoe makers (read AE). To be honest I love classic double soled shoes from AE. But comfort wise they are no where close to ecco. Last week I wore a pair of brand new AE players for 2 days. My feet was cooked....I had to wear few band aids for next few days. And I am sure this pairs of AE will take no less than 10+ wear to break them in.
And yes I do know a little about shoes. But once I slip my feet into a pairs of ecco I can feel the difference. Their shoes are ugly ...yes. But are they the most comfortable shoes I ever wore ....YES !
There are something about ecco the lightness and the softness of their shoes. Just pop in to a store and try them on.

Patek, clearly the OP is new to quality and knows no better. Or he does but doesn't have sufficient funds for higher quality at retail.
It will be far more productive of you to make specific suggestions at the same price point, rather than pissing on the thread.
Be a good boy would you? I for one, can't wait to see what you can come up with. :lurk:

Agreed. In fact, I went into JC Pennys yesterday and picked up a pair of Pajama Jeans. They may be ugly but they are the most comfortable pants I ever wore... YES!

FTFY

to the OP those shoes you posted are horrible... don't care how "comfy" they are or if you have to buy them at Macy's... they need to be killed with fire...
