(emphasis mine)

I disagree. EG/C&J/whatever lasts are the same, but the people wearing it all have very different feet. Whenever someone says one last fits like other, one should realize that it is for THEIR FEET ONLY. You'll be surprised as to how much people disagree over sizing on fora. th

Shoe sizing is important and needs to be done carefully. A lot of us do not have the option to try every size we should, so we take chances (and play games). The other arguements (e.g instep) you make in your post support what I am trying to say about RTW, actually.

My main point in the post I made earlier was to question why OP singled out the 'bespoke' part of the ad, when there is no guarantee that a RTW shoe of a given size will fit anyone in the first place. There is no 'standard' shoe size.

Ebay prices have been crazy for a LONG time, so I am not really surprised to see a $6k used shoe.

No. I think it looks like the shoes have zits.

At least in ready-to-wear, left and right last are the same in size and properties.

Often, this occurs for items which you can no longer get straight from the store. People are willing to pay a premium for the ability to have them at all. The authentic LV stuff that's sold on ebay is usually substantially more expensive than retail.

I saw some old re crafted AE alligator shoes on the bay for $1700, they may still be there. I'd go for those before paying what this guy is for the ostrich Lobbs. Alligator is way more expensive than ostrich.
I have some black ostrich boots, and I love them. I get many compliments on them.
