Although the Payless shoe may be ugly, I have bought a couple of durable, decent pairs of shoes from them in my life. If you don't have any cash and need a pair for an interview/event then why the hell not.

    Because you just shouldn't.

    Gator bespoke Lobbs.

Again, not sure I'm down with mass consumption of "high society." [IMG]

I agree. I'd hate to see the brand diluted. But Lobbs are safe from that because they're still too expensive for most people. Hell, even Ferragamos are too expensive for most of the people that read maxim and they're a clear step up from the barges the editors expect people to wear on their feet.

    But the Payless shoe...[IMG]

Does Payless have an advert in Maxim?[IMG]

Plus distribution is very limited. Beside BG, Wilkes, Korshak, JL Madison Ave. and selected NM, who else carry JL?

I wonder why they didn't quote the price of a pair of JL RTW which is much more "affordable" than a pair of $4500 bespoke?

Probably just to put the number 4500 in print for a pair of shoes.

I just saw that issue of Maxim a couple of days ago in my esteemed colleague Tom "the Mongoose" McEwen's office. The actress with the huge snake on the cover caught my eye and was surprised to see the Lobb piece. I had actually never heard of Aldo shoes until seeing that article.

Do we have any snake men on the forum? I was curious to know what species it was. I find those big constrictors hard to tell apart.

That Lobb shoe is not particularly compelling.

I was grabbing some fast food from mcdonalds last night and some idiot had a snake around his neck. I guess he thought he was cool or a badass or something. I wanted to drown him. I suppose that's why I try and stay out of mcdonals as much as possible.. It's always filled with weirdos and one day I might succumb to my urge.

I was at the one in Toronto a couple weeks ago and they had about 4 pairs of shoes, none particularly compelling.

The nice lady at the Madison ave John Lobb said a pair of mtm alligator shoes would only be $10.5k.

I think they placed the shoe in Maxim for the price's shock value.

Got that right! I was trying to see if it was a photo or some hack illustration, but they managed to pick a very un -appealing model in my opinion.

Considering Maxim is all about sex, it's almost funny that they picked the dowdiest Lobb they could find.
