john lobb factory sale and shoe trees for 1306 last

hello all!
I paid a visit to the John Lobb factory store yesterday and was lucky enough to find that their factory sale had started! Apparently, it goes until next Saturday and they have a range of shoes ranging from 50 pounds up to 245 pounds.

I was lucky enough to pick up a pair of Uppingham ankle boots on the 1306 last in pale grey museum calf for 50 pounds (!) which leads me to my question...does anybody know of some appropriate third party shoe trees for this last?

If I have to, I may shell out for original Lobb trees but I was wondering if anybody knows of a suitable alternative?

I got a card about the sale.

I rang for details but they had nothing in my size apart from loafers and casual shoes.

Same as on my last trip to Northampton.

So even though they advertise a sale, it does not mean they will have much in your size. It might save you a trip to ring ahead.

very true about there not necessarily being much in your size but i guess it is a factory store for seconds and samples! it boils down to pure luck alot of the time...

can anybody help me with regards to my shoe tree question for the lobb 1306 last?

I'm going to toss my question in here before starting a thread.

The 1306 last - does it run large? I've read hints that it does but I want to be sure.

You might find that it runs large in width, but not length. I have the Oakham in White Museum Calf on the 1306 last, an eBay purchase for next summer. Compared to the 1105 and 7000 last I noted that the shape is wider across the ball of the foot, perhaps slightly more pointed in the toe. I'd say that the last runs true to size, although I have only tried this pair on indoors, they won't be worn in the wild until next year.

Given the differences between 1306 and 1105/7000, I would avoid JL trees. They're an amalgam of the more widely used lasts, so they fit the 1105/7000 quite well. However they wouldn't fill the vamp of the 1306 sufficiently well to justify the £70 cost. I haven't found anything suitable for mine yet.
