Actually, what does one do with $5000 used boots? Assuming that they're not ex-skates, do you wear them? Are they "pieces of art" that you display in your home? Are they props for your newly opened bootery? It's one thing to own them, I just don't know what one would do with them....

Union Works in Tokyo has several antique-like shoes and accessories scattered about the shop. I could imagine someone buying them to place in their shoe shop. They could be props in the Polo Mansion, a country club, or a sports bar.

What would 7 guineas and 7 shillings be in today's currency?
GBP 7.35 (just under $ 14.00 at todays exchange rate)

Taking the rate of inflation into account, the 1922 price would be just over GBP 200 in 2006.

how do these boots having been relisted a multitude of times, all of a sudden have a 5000+ dollar bid accumulated on them?
Yes, it did sound fishy... And now this:

Oh, cat turds! I just don't have any good jokes about this any more. It now bores and displeases me...take it away and have it dance for me at my dinner.

I imagine the boots are back because of the 20 cent listing fee special eBay is offering.

Asking for a $4,500 minimum bid has to get expensive, under the normal rate chart. But if he waits for the specials, he can just keep putting them up forever.

I don't want to be a kill joy but why is this so interesting? I avoiding looking thinking I be underwhelmed, and was. The ebay lister is unworthy of the forums attention, in my modest opinion.
