How does it work with bespoke shoes and pricing? Say you get your first pair and it cost $6000, I imagine that includes the making of your last and multiple in-person fittings to get the fit right. That's probably the biggest difference between very high-quality RTW shoemaking and bespoke. But once the last is created and say you wanted another pair down the road built on that exact same last, is that new pair offered at a much lower price?

Not much lower but maybe $1000 lower in the US give or take a couple hundred$. Every year JL resets their bespoke prices based on FX rates. I think from 2016 to 2017, JL lowered the US prices due to the appreciation of the USD vs EUR in 2016. You pay 50% up front and the remaining 50% upon delivery.

If the prices rise between initial deposit and final delivery, you still pay the old price. I think in my case there were 2 price changes since it took about 18 months to get final delivery but I still only paid the final 50% of my 2017 price.

OK, thank you. So then if the price is still almost the same, does that mean, being a bespoke service, and even though you are requesting say pretty the exact same shoe, there are still in-person fittings involved and included in the price just to make 100% sure that the fit comes out perfect?

On my first pair, I think I did 4 fittings which is why it took 18 months.

For my 2nd order, they didn't do fittings. I was told it would be 3-4 months but ended up like 9 months due to Covid shutting down the workshop and they didn't have the leather I wanted. The shoes went straight to final production even though I requested modifications to the last to reduce space and toe shape. They said that if the shoes didn't fit right they'll remake them.

OK, if they don't fit and they end up remaking them, send them to me and I'll cut or stretch my feet accordingly to fit me.

haha.

If they don't fit you give them back to JL and they send you another pair. You don't get to have 2 pairs.

I received the JL St. Crepin 2021 William 75 in burgundy/bordeaux... I was surprised by the color, very rich and deeper than appears in the pictures on the JL website....
