1. I'd like to announce that animated avatars are now available again. You'll have to reload, but they are once more possible.

We've been doing a ton of work behind the scenes. The site load speed was already under 1/2 of what Huddler's was, on average, and we installed cloudflare, which means that the site should be even faster. A ton more will go on in the weeks and months to come, and some things will be more visibile, and some less.

    Cheers,

Thanks gents. I struggled with picking between the dark brown museum, pewter museum and new gold museum. I finally settled on this as I wanted a nice dressy casual summer shoe and I'm very happy I did. Turned out awesome...the flash pics don't do the color justice. Kudos to JL as they estimated 12 weeks and they arrived in 9. I'm a happy customer!

JL still has museum calf? I thought they were getting rid of that in favor of their misty calf.

They still do, just not as widely available as before imo.

Its still also available on their leather books for MTO/bespoke orders.

Mine was MTO, but at least at the JL shop, museum is still fairly prevalent. The stock Chapels were dark brown museum and a good variety of pewter, new gold and black museum in different models.

There's always a fairly even balanced amount of museum alongside the misty and regular calf, but it's always available in their MTO. The great thing about their MTO is there is no up-charge...though the prices on any of the Prestige models are substantial enough already.

Pair of John Lobb's I snagged on eBay.

I took a gamble as the auction stated they had no size listed (which inclines me to believe they are John Lobb Jermyn Street bespoke ones), but the seller's friend tried them on who is an 11 and they were a tad big. I wear a 12 and went for it. Initial test wear and they fit pretty well - slight heel slippage on my right, which may need a heel grip but I'm going to wear them for a couple days and see if they break in a little more to my foot before going that route.

Getting ready for a little Saphir reno and then I'm trying them out!

And after some Saphir and laced differently I get no heel slippage and they fit perfectly! I think these have some break-in even left in them. Pretty stoked even if they are more formal than most shoes I have. I wear what I want to work anyway even if I out dress most my bosses.

Last time I did MTO a couple years back through Neiman Marcus I asked for chestnut museum and got chestnut misty. I haven't done any new JL MTO's in awhile since they messed up the color I wanted and there were multiple problems with the shoes so I haven't really looked through their leather swatches in awhile at a trunk show.

I'm officially a JL maniac now, and have a couple Chapels (dark brown and black) in which I wear a 7.5 UK. I think that's the 8000 last.

I also have the Rothley in a significantly different last (7000?), where I needed to size down to 7.0 UK.

Does anyone have any experience with JL's loafers? Do they make any in the prestige line? The simplicity and elegance of the Edward style caught my eye, in particular, the light-brown Parisian.

    Cheers!

For all of our John Lobb fans, I just left the John Lobb New York store for a press visit, and took a bunch of photographs, talked to them about upcoming releases (including a store exclusive oxford), and interviewed their bespoke fitter. A lot of awesome stuff!

It was very interesting, and Paul is also possibly interested in doing some sort of Q&A with SF posters (they're very aware of this thread and love the site). He discussed his background, the bespoke process, and what he considers the John Lobb Ltd "house style".
