1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

John Lithgow was on Conan O'Brien last night and mentioned running into Shwarzeneggar while returning some clothes at Bergdorf Goodman's. I notice that Oxxford also mentions that Lithgow is an Oxxford wearer. He looked sharp last night, with some sharp bold striped socks. Couldn't get a good look at the shoes.

I do wish Conan would stop wearing those dark shirts. Usually sharp ties, though.

    Saw that episode too.

Maybe we should make Conie the honorary host of the Styleforum.

Conan O'Brien never impressed me sartorially though he is doing a lot better than his early days. I swear back then NBC was buying him the cheapest and most ill-fitting suits possible.

We ran into Lithgow in Bergdorf this past weekend also, while in town for Sartorial Excellence. All things equal, I think I would've preferred to run into Arnold. [IMG]

Very suprised that Lithgow does his own returns.

Not all that surprising, actually. His wife was (still is?) a prof of English literature at UCLA, and I used to see him around campus fairly often, doing "regular guy" sorts of things--walking his dog, checking out the student union, grabbing a sandwich. He was very approachable, as well--seemed very "down to earth."

Geeze man... he's not THAT big of a star.

I saw Stallone in BG last week, not that is a big star. He was wearing these weird shoes that must have put on 4 inches; othewise Armani head to toe.

I rode an elevator with the guy from Home Improvement once. We exchanged "heys". He was wearing wraparound sunglasses and the denim tuxedo with cowboy boots. Not a great look.

Alright, this thread has been officially hijacked.

I rode in the elevator with Joe Montana (and his hyperactive sons) at Saks in SF. He's a charming guy...he winked at me when he spotted the recognition in my eyes, and we exchanged hellos.

Now everyone share YOUR experiences shopping with the famous.

Well, I once gave Juliana Margulies (sp?) advice at Lisa Kline Men. And I saw the incredibly hot Jessica Biel at Bernini's in the Beverly Center, of all places. Didn't have the balls to say hi, and she was with some guy anyway.

I helped Timothy Dalton find and buy the Gardiner cycle of the Beethoven symphonies at Tower Classics in West Hollywood, California.

I was in Palm Beach once in the second floor of the Ralph Lauren store and Wayne Gretzky was there with his family and I was looking for a shirt and he pointed to a wide spread (this was back in the T&A RLPL days) blue oxford shirt with French cuffs. It was a very nice choice indeed and I ended up buying it.

    Jon.

Edit: oh, yeah I saw Bob Dole in NM in Bal Harbour.

I saw John Travolta in the J Crew outlet in Freeport, Maine a few years ago. I'm not sure what he was doing there. Come to think of it, I'm not sure what I was doing there.

I also saw Conan O'Brien riding the green line in Boston a few years ago. This was before he became really popular. As far as I could tell, no one else recognized him.

I met Penelope Cruz in Montreal.  It was a classy club where I met her and I was talking to her without even knowing that she was Penelope Cruz.

"Oh no. I've killed Wilson. Looks like it's back to jail for me. Argh argh argh argh."

Never met anyone famous while shopping, unless you count a contestant on Australian Big Brother. Which I don't.

I saw Dave Chapelle at the Barney's Warehouse Sale a few weeks ago. The guy pulls down 6 mil a year - why shop at the warehouse sale? Eh, a bargain's a bargain I guess.
