size down to whatever size you can barely slip them on and button it.
The only thing I'd say to argue against this is in my opinion, I have taken size 29 in Cast 2 Odeon/Zinc. Both fit alright - prefer Zinc as it's tighter, and I may actually buy a 28 in the Odeon as a result. I have purchased Cast 2 Spring in 29 that tore in the crotch (received a refund), and Cast 2 Mica in a 28 that was WAY too tight everywhere. I couldn't walk comfortably, and I just traded someone for a 29 in those. Will review fit today after I receive them.

JE denim/the brand itself is my absolute favorite. I've purchased tons of Season Seven, as well as stuff from before, such as the Rider Jacket Flannel Lined, which I now own in a size 3 (large). Sizing is tough in this brand. I have some tops that are a size 1 (small), most pieces - Villain, Rues, Kake, OS Crew/Hoodie - are size 2 (medium), and all of my outerwear besides my Military Fishtail Raincoat are size 3. Swarm Jacket, Rider, etc. I take 3. I'm 5'10" (or 5'11" on a good day) and 150 lbs., tall, skinny, athletic distance runner build.

Like the other guy that answered you, I've bought some pieces and returned them because of fit, but I've eventually been able to tease out what sizes work best for me in the line.

I got 2 pairs of the Rag & Bone Fit 1 denim after being recommended by members of this forum and they are the best denim for the price (they always have promo codes to get under retail) the only issue is they have a very weak selection of washes.

That's JE for you. The sizing is weird and varies heavily from piece to piece. Although you may get the odd poster on here that says "I'm a medium in everything JE" - from my personal experience one size is not going to fit the same over the wide range of pieces that JE offers. For instance - I have an XL wool bomber, a medium fishtail raincoat, and a large iridescent bomber. Large in most of the pants. Mediums in most tees but larges in some others.

Very important to read the size guide and compare it to the size guide of another piece if they are of a similar material.

That is why it is crucial that the size guides are correct when the item drops. :)

Looking forward to the denim shorts today even though they look a bit different from the one's John was wearing the show.

agree with you 100% JE has one of the best size guides (when it works)

Yeah I'll be copping shorts for sure. I <3 my new Rider so much. The Flannel one is WAY better than the Summer version, IMO. It's totally lined throughout, which just makes it a warmer piece. I would say it is a more 'functional' jacket overall. The large fits nicely, a tad wide in the body but it'll look great with anything underneath it. The size 2 I initially bought fits like @nsubrmnn 's picture above, but I wanted a bit more length in both the body and the sleeves. Still fits perfectly everywhere - I just buckled the sides to the tighter setting and it fits lovely. I'll post pics when I buy a full length mirror for my spot, as I've been more invested in the clothes than the mirror haha.

Picked up the shorts in 29 (same as my jean sizing).

Stoked! I hope JE releases a black version.

As much as I want to pull the trigger on the Coast denim shorts, I rather stick to getting the Coast denim instead...waiting for the restock on those

Just copped Cast 2 Cropped Black in 29 and Coast Shorts in 29 as well. I was curious to see if the cropped denim would fit me in 28, but I think the 9.75" front rise in the 28 would cause a rip similar to the rip I experienced in the sz. 29 Spring denim I purchased, which had the 10" front rise (larger, still ripped). We'll have to see, I guess.

I ended up getting the shorts in the same size that I got the Scarabs in - not sure if they will fit though since the scarabs had stretch and these don't look like they do. Wish the size guide worked...

Also I am not sure how I feel about the paint splatters on these - did not think they would have any on. Will just return if I am not happy though.

Please post pics when you get them in. I've been contemplating getting the cropped black. Hoping the color is darker than pictured. I also generally need a longer inseam and am hoping the inseam is closer to 33 like jbidwal stated than the fit guide's 32.

I never post pics - again, need that mirror! But I will when I can. For sure.

I'm not one to deter from purchasing JE due to price but unfortunately I can't justify those jort prices
