1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

It depends on the cost of the item and how it's shipped. FedEx, ups and dhl always collect customs over $800. Usps never does for me

Next thing you know you're gonna have people dropping $5k before codes go out and then returning everything just to save $20.

Compile customer list, send codes to top 10% (or whatever number they choose) of spenders. Pretty easy.

Well that's flawed. What about the people that spend over at other retailers?

haha that's still just the US rule. Keep dreaming my fellow Canuck. We still get hit with a $10 brokerage fee and ~20% taxes on a pair of $5 socks.

Hopefully that retailer takes care of you. They are basically offering a deal to those that do business with them.

I don't understand why people are rattled, it's simple business (yes I got a code). There will be people here that choose to share their codes as well.

@ChronBong, the duties are very expensive. It's usually around 15-25 percent from my experience. I've seen it even worse though. The effects of NAFTA are very great for the Canadian consumer it would seem.....

Yes. It's always a gamble shipping stuff, but I try to avoid UPS and Fedex in general. At least if something is shipped USPS and converts to Canada Post it might not get caught, and when it does, I don't think they charge the $10 brokerage. If something is made in the USA then you might only get charged $10 brokerage and the 12% BC HST, but that's only if customs acknowledges the USA made tag or whatever.

TL;DNR, incorporate $10 + 20% in every purchase before buying and don't complain afterward when you get dinged and realize the purchase wasn't worth it.

I always ship across the line and take my chances at the border on duties. Cheaper shipping too - but all in all it sucks with the dollar right now.

Probably because everyone here is in this forum knows more about JE then the average person, (JE enthusiasts) so they feel like they should be part of an exclusive group.
