Jodphur elastic or bucle?

Hi,

I'm looking into some Jodphur boots from the French Bexley.
They have both an elastic side model, and a buckle model. I like the form of the buckle more, but I'm afraid it has a feminine stigma around it? Is that so?
What are the aesthetic differences?

name for elastic model is Chelsea boot
name for buckle model is Jodphur boot

Both styles are worn by men and women.

I have a pair of Chelseas by Carmina and a pair of Jodphur (or similar) by Sutor Mantellassi. I feel quite a man wearing any of them.

Regarding the aesthetic differences, I guess they are quite obvious from looking at the pictures.

I think the Jodphur is a bit more elegant with it's buckle and leather strap. I like that kind of detail in a shoe. However, for the most comfort, a Chelsea has the advantage of the elastic stretch. I don't see one or the other as being more masculine. Both are classic men's boots.

Having both the Chelsea and Jodphur boots, I prefer the Chelsea design for the convenience and the Jodphur design for it's style! Though, my Chelsea designs do get worn significantly more often.

Chelseas are lighter and more convenient. Jodhpurs are slightly more classy and unique.

I think the chelsea is more versatile. As for the masculinity concern, men have been wearing such elastic-sided boots for a very long time. They were one of the more common types of footwear in the 19th century.

I've never brought myself to wear jodhpurs -- the strap and buckle strike me as a bit theatrical, but I'm apparently in the minority on this.

There is definitely a bit of theater in Jodhpurs, especially if you sit down and someone sees the buckle contraption clearly. They have probably never seen such a thing before. Nothing wrong with a little drama though.

Thanks for the information. I regularly wore Blundstones, but I wanted something more dressy. Until now I have only seen girls wear those Jodhpurs. But I think I will buy those.
