I have this pair of rarely worn JM Weston ‘Brett’ loafer in size 7D. Purchased at the Cannes boutique circa 2015, worn maybe 10 times. Like others, I got talked by the sales staff into believing that the shoes would stretch (my US branock size is 8.5EE). These are just too constrictive and I feel that they strangle my instep every time I wear them. The shoes are in very good condition. What do folks think I could get for them on eBay?

Do a search on eBay for the same thing, it will give you listing of current shoes that are similar, then check the box in the filter for "completed" listings, there you will find previous sales. Used shoes on eBay are really tough, unless it's something that is new or in really good condition. I've sold slightly used Ferragamo loafers, very good condition, with box and bags, paid $700 and I got $175 on eBay...after shipping and the eBay fee, I ended up with about $130...it's a tough market

I can confirm, after having spent time with Size 10s, and then size 10.5s, and now having received size 11s, that 1.5 sizes down from your "Brannock" seems to be the way to go. What's more, I spent all this time thinking about the different variations of width and length adjustments I might need, when in the end I'm just a straight D width.

I feel born again, like I'm looking at 180s with fresh eyes, and suddenly I'm thinking to myself "do I need a speckled goatskin loafer in my closet?"

Be aware not all 180s are created equal, my blue/bordeaux are very tight after a couple of years.
Meanwhile the suede and lizard are spot on now.

But also, don't buy them tight, is what I have learned.

Just picked up a pair of 180’s in taupe suede in Paris. Sizing advice is accurate.
9E in Brannock for reference. Hope this helps someone out there!
7.5E for 180’s
8.5E Barrie last
9D Van last

No love in the JM Weston thread???? I emailed the company several months ago about a pair of black suede 180s in 10F, a size/width combo that is available in brown suede only. They said they had a pair in black, I tried to order when the realized their mistake. They offered to make it for $770 Euros - the normal price for in-stock. The shoes arrived and they are fantastic! I then emailed asking about navy blue suede, this time they didn't tell me it was in stock, I would have to pay normal price for special makeups - $1100 Euros - no thank you. I wish they made more F widths...it's like a EEE in US and G in UK....

Looking to order my first pair of 180s as a Christmas gift but I have a question about sizing. I used their sizing tool but would it be a good idea to go up half a size? I'm a little nervous the tool is giving me a near perfect fit, as I like to have a little bit of room, especially for loafers. Do they tend size smaller?

Sizing up a half size worked for me. I was fitted in the Marais store and bought a pair that’s a half size to small and one size to wide. (Their sizing chart had me at 7E, same as the online tool.) I later bought a size 7/D, and it’s a perfect fit.

Their sizing tool is not accurate in my experience. As many comments have mentioned, go 1.5 sizes down from your US size. US 8D -> JMW 6.5D

Does anyone have any experience with both the 180 loafer and the golf derby? I wear a 10 F in the 180 loafer which fits perfectly. It’s their widest size shoe but the golf derby looks like it is a wide model so wondering if a 10 E would work. They don’t make 10 F in the golf Derby

I have both models in D width, even they are the same last, but thinking Golf could be a little narrower. The website suggest me a E width but the retailer didn't carry E so I settled for the D width, it will take some time to adjust even though I have tried stretching them with a shoe tree and a pair of thick sock. Going up half a size might help a little. My 180s were size 6D, I got golfs both in 6D and 61/2D, saying that they both fit is a lie, the 61/2D were way more comfortable than the 6D.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
