Jiffy E-Steam Travel Steamer: Cleaning?

I know I was supposed to use distilled water for my E-steam, but I didn't always have it handy, and after not that many uses, I seem to have accumulated a not insignificant quantity of mineral deposits in it. What's the best way to clean it?

They come with cleaning instructions. As I recall, adding some vinegar to the water and boiling it should help to reduce the mineral deposits.
