Jheri Curl

So i'm a white guy with straight hair and I'd like to have a Jheri curl. Can anyone tell me what amount of work it would take to get it? IE chemical treatment etc. Also, how long should my straight hair be before I get it curled?

My wife - a most talented PHD ( professional hair dresser) tells me you don't need a Jheri curl, what you may be looking at is a perm, a jheri curl is for already curly hair that is a really tight curl that one wants to relax into a looser curl pattern. Hope that helps - i took this down while she was standing next to me and have absolutely no idea how to help you once she leaves my side!
