Just finished it. The one thing that I found interesting was how the summer camp spent more time talking about the devil and sin, than about Jesus and his grace (the basis of Christianity). To me, it seems like the evangelicals in the movie are good people, just misdirected.

It is hard for me to take a black and white stance on the documentary because I respect certain aspects of both the evangelical movement, and those who are against it.

Do you think they allow critical discussions of Christianity? These (Evangelicals) are misguided people unaware of their religion's beginnings.

Rambling post ahead, and it's gonna be offensive:

My initial thoughts were, "damn those people are fucked up." They're brain-washing their kids before they even have a chance to think for themselves. I love how they stick them in big groups, make them cry, and guilt them in to believing in god. I love how they think that muslim extremists are something to look up to.

The funniest is the girl who's dream it is to paint nails so she can talk to people about the lord and they can't escape.
Or the kid that was saved by jesus at the age of 5...

Choice quotes:

"no microphone problems in jesus' name"

"Who's in the house? JC!!" omg lol

"And while I'm on the subject.. lemme say something about Harry Potter. Warlocks are enemies of god! And I don't care what kind of hero they are. Warlocks are enemies of god an in the old testament Harry Potter would have been put to death! You don't make heroes out of warlocks!!"

"when i meet a non-christian i feel yucky."

Those people should all be neutured so they can't reproduce. Or maybe we can send all these trained kids off to fight the muslims since they're the biggest threat ;p

In case you didn't guess. I have no tolerance for religious extremism. I guess the devil got me early.

Scary stuff...IT creeps me out that they see what Hamas, the Taliban, Hezbollah are doing as ADMIRABLE, just in the wrong direction. They WANT that pyschotic level of fanaticism.

That's not OK.

I don't know if they see that which the terrorist groups are doing as admirable as much as they see those groups as the enemy, and insofar as the enemy's training is effective (which clearly--they are right--it is) that they have to combat fire with fire and train their kids to balance them out.

Heaven forbid thou use critical thought and education to challenge the word of God. I always enjoyed the first 'superhero' Gilgamesh.

Scholars have traced the roots of many of the Old Testament stories to the ancient, pagan myths of the ancient Mesopotamian cultures. In the Fertile Crescent, the waters of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, in present-day Iraq, gave birth to some of the worlds first civilizations.
In this early flowering of civilization, many religious myths abounded, seeking to explain what was then unexplainable. From this context comes the oldest complete literary work we have, the age of which we are certain, dating back at least 7,000 years. The Epic of Gilgamesh is a lengthy narrative of heroic mythology that incorporates many of the religious myths of Mesopotamia, and it is the earliest complete literary work that has survived.

Many of the stories in that epic were eventually incorporated into the book of Genesis. Borrowed from the Epic of Gilgamesh are stories of the creation of man in a wondrous garden, the introduction of evil into a naive world, and the story of a great flood brought on by the wickedness of man, that flooded the whole world.

Everyone is entitled to go through life the way they want, and live it their way. I have no problem with these evangelicals.

However, I do not think it is fair to beat these ideas into the sponge-like minds of young children. I think religion is a decision that one must make when they are mature enough to know both sides of the issue, so they can make a knowledgable choice about how they wish to interpret spirituality.

It also seems like a lot of these individuals believe in God because they are scared of the consequences, and because they feel they have to rather than want to. This doesn't sit well with me because I feel spirituality and religion should be about forming your own beliefs somewhat, and staying true to them, while enjoying life and trying to do something good for others. These people don't seem like they really enjoy life.

I really really need this song. I would mix it with some other tracks and create a dope mix. Anyone know where I can find this on vinyl? EDIT: http://www.amazon.com/Standard-Carma...e=UTF8&s=music Track 1. Stay tuned for "Carman - Who's in the House? (VMan's Disco Drama Heavenly Energy Remix)"
