Hi,
I am going to London next week for 3-4 days. I am going to visit Jermyn Street, among other areas, and was wondering if it is worthwhile to purchase a couple off the rack shirts from them. UK is usually very expensive, but checking some of the deals (i.e. 4 shirts for 100 pounds) seems reasonable.

In the US, I usually buy shirts at the warehouse salles, Off 5th, Filenes basment, C21, and buy the likes of Valentino, Hugo Boss, Missoni, and others.

I like the UK shirt design very much, the stripes are sometimes hard to find in the typical sale places in the US (single color shirts seem more popular in the US), plus the fact that I can get slim off the rack shirts on Jermyn St are an added bonus (here I can only find those in Zara and H&M mostly).

How do off the rack shirts from, let's say Harvie & Hudson and TM Lewin compare to the brands I mentioned above?

Thanks!

I think with the exception of Valentino and Missoni, most of my shirts are made in the developing countries anyhow.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
