12 noon to 5pm next Saturday (10th September) will be the annual Jermyn Street "art of being British" event.

I received an email yesterday about this so thought I would pass it on as I wasn't aware of it and hadn't read on the internet it was happening again this year.

I wanted to go to the Savile row one but my friend told me it wasn't that great without major connections...

Last year was great; The weather was good and the open-house style was great. Lots of free drinks and nibbles, and a chance to chat to proprietors without feeling obligated to buy anything.

A demonstration on how to make the perfect Martini, sole a shoe and several other bits and bobs. Nice was to spend a few hours and when you get bored there are about 6 good bars in that area¬

Clothes and free food and drink? I'm in!
I shall take a wander along. Providing, that is, as long as Boris' tube upgrades haven't cut off my part of North West London from contact with the outside world for the umpteenth time this year. Looks a fun afternoon but the prospect of going from Harrow on the Hill to Green Park via Ongar or Beirut or whatever has seen me spending more weekends at home than I envisaged when I moved back to London.
