To lose the most indigo wash them right-side out in hot water. Don't expect much for high contrast fades if you're going to be washing them often in warm water though.

It depends on the kind of jeans. With dry jeans most people here wash them after 6 months or longer than that, with the pre-distressed one then you can wash it anytime you want.

I'm starting with raw denim. That is normally how I do it, 6-9 mos before washing.

There's a post pics of your denim thread pinned on this forum. You could look there and see how light jeans can get.

There's also the other SF with the evolution of jeans thread:

and tony_hige's 45rpms

You'll have to wash your jeans if you want them to lighten up. Here's my oldest pair of Levi's 501xx. These used to be raw.

Those are really light. How long did you wait until you washed them the first time.
Do you have pics of the back?

I've had these for a long time, long before the 6-month standard was the norm. They were washed every few weeks or so.

I'll see if I can get a pic of the back when I get home.

DarknWorn that would be great. I love the fact that there are no big rips. That's what I'm trying to avoid. I have a pair of 501's from '92 but the knees are totally blown out.

I think that after this, you should read this thread:

http://supertalk.superfuture.com/sho...ht=crazy+canes

click on mizanation's first link, it's in Japanese, but just keep clicking the next button at the bottom. This guy washes his jeans monthly. He's also got a ton of way cool faded jeans.

Don't really know how far you want to take your interest in jeans, but that'll do for a start.
