im in the market for a raw cut to cuff/roll up over some boots, doesnt have to be super slim, but should be sleek enough to wear well with a combat boot or chelsea. what are my options? 5'9" 165lbs

501's have a taper? I think my thin-finns look good cuffed with my chelsea boots, GetSmart wears his cuffed and they look good. I don't have combat boots (yet), not sure if they'd fit well over those.

501s have always been tapered. It's about the only constant to the cut.

HHH, I haven't worn a pair for about 10 years when I did the STF ones. Do they have a high rise? I don't remember much about them, but they definitely looked good with big cuffs- THAT I do remember.

any straight leg or slight taper is gonna look good cuffed. make sure it's dry denim as soft washed denim doesnt hold a cuff too well. imo, a chelsea boot, which is usually slim by design, looks better with a slim jean than something more relaxed. the big feet effect is just something that goes with that look, but it might be that you're just not used to seeing yourself with that style so it just appears "big". what shoe size are you?

whats the standard leg/ankel opening for a 501 style, 15-16"? i like the way Get Smart wears his, the cuff seems to ride right on the boot, because the leg opening is like 13"? im attracted to some rb11s, but im thinking the 16" might be too loose and flop around, which i dont want.

501s are about 8-8.5" wide at hem depending on size.

personally, I think 7.5" is the perfect width, 8 is good too. 8.5" is the largest I like, 7" is the smallest I'll wear. this is in relation to a 31/32 waist

what's important for me is to have a pretty straight line from the knee to hem. If there's too much taper in that area, i think it looks awkward, like you're wearing peg-legged pants

then i guess 501s probably wouldnt be as snug as id like. thats some valuable info there, i thank you for it. besides the nudie thin fin, do you know any other models (preferably not nudies) off the top of yer head that would fit like a tight straight leg? i recall seeing a sizing thread for various jeans but had no luck finding it.
i really appreciate the help.

the Levis Cap E 'strummer' and 'matchstick' have really good slim fits. leg is pretty straight knees down, and the hem is about 7.75" on a size 32 waist. Great for cuffing if you get the raw model. The Stacked Skinny is the same cut, but the inseam comes in at a really long 37" on a tagged 32 inseam.

the APC new standard and Julian Red california are other good alternatives that I've worn/wear. They're slightly tapered, but not that much...I think 8" at knee, and about 7.5" at hem on both iirc

looks like the PBJ XX-005 would be a higher end option too

oh yea, the April 77 "sinner" model I have is pretty straight leg, albeit thin. I think the opening is about 7.25" on my size 30 waist

yeah nvm i was wrong...the jeans length wise have to be just right for it to look right...my STF is a little long to compensate for shrinkage so it looks wired now

Hey GS, I got a pair of those levi strummers you recommended. Its a real good fit, similar to my svens, but the quality is nowhere near that of the nudies. Still theyre pretty decent for the $50 i payed.
They arnt narrow enough to cuff the way i want though, or short enough, for that matter. I think this works better anyway. check em out..
btw whats the word on stretching for these things?
