Jeans advice for short guys

I would really appreciate some advise on what sort of jeans I should wear. I'm 25, 5'7, skinny and normally wear size 28 jeans. I've realized most of my jeans don't really look good on me. I prefer straight leg regular fit jeans but i am not sure if i should buy low/medium/high rise. I wear jeans mostly with the shirt tucked in to work, so I want to consider that as well before buying new jeans.
I really like diesel jeans so which diesel style would suit me best.

I am also a short person and I mostly wear tapered / skinny jeans because it will make your legs look longer. I would definitely recommend that. As jeans I would suggest the APC Petit Standard. These are clean and very slim:

I prefer straight leg,not baggy but just normal straight leg jeans or slim fit but not too slim. Skinny jeans make my legs look like sticks and that is not a good look IMHO. My problem is mainly with the rise, I cant decide what rise would suit me best.

Your legs will only be sticks when you're wearing jeggings, but ofcourse it's your call. I don't know a lot about the perfect rise but I found this on the internet:

Short Waist
If you have a shorter waist and longer legs, you should stay away from high-waisted jeans and instead go for a low-rise or mid-rise jean. This will create the illusion of a longer waist and make you look more proportionate.

Long Waist
If you have shorter legs and a longer waist, you should definitely stay away from the low-rise jeans and opt for a high-waisted style instead. This will make your legs look much longer and your body look more in proportion.

If you're 5'7", straight fit jeans are almost definitely not a good look for you. They make you look short and fat. Get the Petit Standards, they are damn near perfect. An Acne Max would also be great. Or a RRL Slim Fit. Or a 484 from J.Crew. Or a slim pair from Gap or Uniqlo even. Six months later, you'll wonder why you didn't switch sooner and you will never go back. If you must stick with Diesel, get the Thavar, the Thanaz, or the Shioner. But seriously, get the Petit Standard raws, wear them to death and don't wash them for a year. Thank us later.

What if you're 5'7 with a big butt and big calves? I can't wear slims -_- I have to get slim-straights and straights.

I think tapered denim is a good recommendation, but the problem I have (especially with raw denim), is that after the jeans are hemmed to an appropriate length, I've lost most of the taper. Have you guys had much success having a tailor taper your jeans?

Some good suggestions here already.... here's my two cents:

I'd stay away from low rise, in general. Stay away from boot cut or anything "relaxed". The J. Crew 484s are too relaxed, in my opinion, for your body type.

Highly recommend trying EXPRESS jeans. The Alec (very slim) or Rocco (slim) are awesome for shorter guys. Make sure to get the "skinny leg" cut (it's not skinny).

Also, Lucky Brand "Dean" cut is good.

Banana Republic Heritage Slim might work too.

For chinos, I like Urban Outfitters slim fit chinos and Banana Republic Emerson Chino.

Get the denim in the closest inseam length to start. Apc i have hemmed to 30" inseam the taper on pns is still good.

don't know if that's you, but these do not fit well - back should not look like that. if you're slim and tucking shirts in, just get some mid rise slim/tapered leg jeans. maybe high rise, depending on your inseam and how conservative your style is. simple washes. err on the side of darker if you're unsure about palette.

What's your opinion on stack vs no stack on short guys?

I'm 5'7". 29-30" is about my optimum inseam length with no stack. Someone in my family just told me I look "taller" in tapered jeans 32" inseam with some stack over work boots. I remember reading somewhere short guys should avoid breaks on pants. Now I'm all confused.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Stop wanting to look taller, no one cares. Avoid skinny jeans because they look stupid now. 501ish cuts should be fine (i.e. APC new standards).

Stacks are somewhat out these days but break/no break is up to your preference. Oh and avoid rolling up jeans and showing your ankles not because you're "short" but because it is lame.
