I have a couple questions about the Rocker:

Do they get slim enough at the bottom to have a little stacking, or will it become puddling very quickly?

How orange is the stitching in person? Is it too bright to wear these as an "office jean" w/o attracting the wrong attentions?

I've owned a few so I can say with confidence: Rockers are not a stacking jean. Period. Stitching is pumpkin orange color. It's orange. It works beautifully with the indigo color of the denim, imo, and you don't notice it unless you're really looking. They do make excellent 'dressier' jeans because of the drape and cut though. Depends on how much you downsize though...

I would size down enough that the waist fits comfortably snug. I don't want the jeans to be super tight, but my biggest pet peeve is when the waistband sags below my belt and I get that sort of crotch buckling. Maybe the skinny fit is better if I want to stack a bit? My ideal leg opening is 15in. When I do wear jeans for meetings, etc. I usually wear fairly conservative but modern shirts, blazers and shoes. I don't want the jeans to stand out in the wrong way but definitely need a super dark pair that still has contrast stitching.

I have a pretty good idea of what you're looking for. Leg opening for the JS Rocker are about 16" even in the smaller sizes (was on all mine). But it's a good overall fit for a work/dress jean, because it's slim but not 'statement'. I detest the skinny version. It's an awful interpretation. You might also want to consider both of Skull's cuts for a dark, smooth denim. The 5507 might be ideal. Crate, APC, Rag & Bone, KMW, Dry Bones, Simon Miller, Tellason, etc - there's tons of good jeans that can be dressed up.

This was when tried on new.

KMW Rocker skinnys had the same poor interpretation. Basically took the1980 pattern and just make the leg narrower. Top block to leg proportions were all haywire.

Neither were a successful fit on me, but may work nicely on others.

Thanks, may have to go find some to try. I love Rag & Bone and have a couple pairs of those, so I'll have to see what they come up with for S/S '10. The APC NS would be the right fit I think, but I'd really like a deeper indigo. If I ever find a pair, the Naked & Famous Weird Guy in deep indigo may work also.

And I, too, detest "statement" skinny. I also don't like the super skinny jeans with the droopy asses. I just want them skinny enough so when I wear them a little longer with boots I get nice stacking, as opposed to the puddling I get with jeans that are wider at the hem (my one and only complaint about the Rag & Bone RB15).

They do work nicely on others. It's not the rocker fit as the skinny is a unisex slim model: IIRC, the rise is lower by about an inch while the thighs and knees are skinnier. Of course the top block is going to be roomy, (warning: anatomy lesson) women have wider hips than men and the jeans are cut accordingly. But all isn't lost in Denimville as some men would take this as a clue to wear them with a bit of an anti-fit instead of an across-the-board slim fit. You might have also heard this of cut used with other brands as a "carrot": roomy top block, skinny/tapered legs. Assuming you tried on the regular length, I don't see what you mean by a "bootcut flare." Not only have I not experienced that on my long-length pair, but a cursory search on the internet comes up with nothing looking similar to your description:

I've said before that had I sized down one more, I would think these are some of the best fitting jeans I own aside from my RRLs. JS hit the rise just where I like it while leaving the legs slim but not activity-reducing. The top block has an oddly universal feel to it in the sense that I can either wear them high or low and then dress around it accordingly. Yes, there is a potential for hip flare (which you can see in both pics of male models) but it either softens up from wear or you treat these jeans like you would a pair of boxy LVCs and man the **** up.

If you actually have some muscle on your thighs the skinny doesn't work. You'd have to size down a ton on the waist leaving the thighs much too tight. I had a pair of 29s that fit painted on in the thighs but fit perfectly in the waist brand new. Waist would've gotten way too big if I had actually worn them. and from what I've heard I would've needed a 27 or 26 to make it work in the waist rendering the thighs unwearable.

If I had sized up in the waist to accomodate for my thighs I would have been left with some weird ass saggy top block. IMO the cut doesn't really work too well on men, seems much better suited for someone with more junk in the trunk.

That's why I sold the ones I bought from you. But ironically, my FH BSPs aren't radically different, yet I love them.

Well, that's why there's choices. I still have issues with jeans touted as unisex, since I think the fit is just going to be a series of compromises.

I've owned enough JS to know it's a brand that just doesn't work for me, and I really wish it did.

Same, there's rarely a good "unisex" jean. The Acne Mic is billed as such, and I can't imagine that fit looking good on a girl as anything but one of the currently-trendy "boyfriend jeans." I feel the same about the APC NS, and feel the NC would make a better unisex jean.

Does anyone know if the BLACK Rockers (button) are as vanity-sized as the RAW and one-wash indigos? I only sized down 1 on my order because of my muscular build (thighs) and I'm thinking I might regret it.

edit: I'm guess I'm wondering if anyone knows the actual waist size on these? I've seached around, and have found conflicting info: size 30= 32"/32.5", and this was for the raw.

They are great jeans, but really have a very western vibe.

Waiting for the reaction from Hosedine.

Seriously, though, I have no idea WTF you guys are talking about. How muscular are your thighs? I have fairly muscular legs, especially compared to the rest of my body (over a decade of kickboxing and tons of interval work/sprints). I just measured them, and the right thigh measures 23.25" right now. The thighs on the KMW rockers (size 31) fit just fine, and the waist is comfortable, maybe slightly loose. Good for the sag. The Jean shop rockers are similar. You guys need to listen to Fuuma. The sag is what carrot jeans (like the Dior Homme 19 cm) are all about.
