Jcrew Ludlow Suit Pant Question

I'm thinking about making the plunge and buying a J Crew Ludlow Suit. I went to a J Crew store to try on the jacket but didn't get the chance to try on the suit pants. From the site, I don't like the sound of tapered ankle. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for slim (which is partly why I'm going for the Ludlow) but I don't dig the TOO SLIM look for pants. My question is: Should I buy a 31x32 instead of my usual 30x30 size and have it tailored and hemmed? I figure by getting it longer, I can hem it shorter and alleviate some of the tapering? Thanks in advance!

J crew pants are not even close to being TOO slim. If you are still worried, buy both pairs, the 30x30 and the 31x32, and return the pair you won't use.

Thanks for the replies! Glad you guys told me they're not too slim....it was just by judging the pictures on the models on the website that made me think, "dude, these pants are going to be super skinny!"

@vncrz, I agree, low rise for a suit is...not ideal, ESPECIALLY when you think about the Ludlow Jacket being a bit shorter than normal suit jackets.

Thanks. I'm actually built for the Ludlow. I loved the fit of the jacket when I tried it on. I went out and bought an Alfani Red which is also slim fit and it fit me really good as well, but after reading up on it, I saw that people had complaints about the shoulder pads and also the low armhole. That gave me a newer perspective on the Alfani Red and so I returned it. The Ludlow is slim fit and just felt a lot more comfortable with room for me to move while keeping the slim profile (probably because the armhole is a little higher up) and the shoulders looked more natural and less padded.
