I am lining up to purchase a pair of Alden Indys. I like the JCrew models simply due to the color.

Is there any difference between Alden Indys and JCrew collabs in terms of quality, design?

I don't want to buy the JCrew Aldens only to find they skimped on something

many thanks

Quality is the same. Sole is different material. Stitching pattern is slightly different. Pick the one you like the looks of.

The J. Crew is a totally different leather than the classic Alden 405 Indy. The J. Crew is Horween Chromexcel, the 405 also Horween, but tanned differently and obviously a different color.

The older 405s weren't leather-lined, they are now, as are the J. Crew

Alden makes a model in Brown Chromexcel that they sell under their own label, the model number is 403. These are very similar to the J. Crew, just with a slightly different stitching pattern on the sides and possibly a slightly lighter-dyed welt.

The soles on all 3 are the same.

I own the J. Crews FWIW.
