A luxurious Shoe Storage-in-a-Stool solution, courtesy of Rifare in Tokyo, and made by Minerva, a custom furniture maker.

Top and side are upholstered in a single piece of croc. The rest are upholstered in Weinheimer calfskin.

That's beautiful. But too small. :)

The Fukuda shoes above are outstanding!

On the blog it says its ~$1,000. Don't those slots look small though, even for 1 shoe?

I think, the stool is not for shoe storage, but for shoe care items (brushes, polishes etc.) The idea is, you sit on the stool, while you polish your shoes, and rest the tools on the pull-out tray.

For $ 1,000 you cannot buy that crocodile/alligator hide. This hide (covering three sides of the cube) is huge and must have come from a very old animal. The price of a skin will increase disproportionately with the size as large hides are extremely rare.

My bad, wrong currency conversion :embar: $10,000 for a shoe shine stool is too rich for my blood.

Makes me wonder why they haven't shown more interest in making their shoes available outside Japan. Not everyone can fly to Tokyo for an appointment. But give me a website where I can buy and I am in.

Before Abe's second term, these goods are prohibitively expensive... Now after JPY got its 25% discount, the bespokes are now price competitive.

Yeah I think Japanese shoes manufacturers should seriously consider expanding their customer base overseas.
I've read that the upcoming FTA agreement and others may bring an end to the infamous 30% tariffs on leather shoes in Japan....
